TRG Report 198 (R) describes the DISCOUNT programme for the Ferranti Mercury computer, and gives a detailed account of version B of the programme. Since the report was issued two improvements have been made, resulting in a new version, C. The first improvement is in the calculation of actual equil¬ibrium delay time and the second in the provision of additional input data governing the transfer of plutonium from capacity withdrawn.nThe actual equilibrium delay time refers to the initial period of operation of a reactor during which it is assumed to produce no plutonium and at the end of which it produces plutonium at its normal rate. In version B of the programme, this time for any half-year was derived in Routines 2 and 9, depending on whether the half-year occurred before or after time zero.
