The work to be evaluated here is divided into three phases:nⅠ. Development of a reliable welding and joining process for Be and Y tube and end-plug closures for application as fuel element cladding.nⅡ. Development of an induction melting technique for casting UN and UN-UC fuel shapes.nⅢ. Development of an arc melting and casting technique for fabricating composition of mixed carbides such as UC-ZrC into fuel shapes.
