LAMB WAVES:THEIR USE IN NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTING

The theoretical aspects of Lamb waves and the experiments which verified their basic properties were described in a previous report.* The present status report will describe a series of experiments conducted as part of the research program of the Nondestructive Testing Group of the Metallurgy Division of Argonne National Laboratory, and which was pri¬marily concerned with establishing the usefulness of Lamb waves for the detection of small defects in thin plates and in small-diameter, thin-walled tubing.
