A METHOD OF DETERMINING VOLUMES AND SURFACE AREAS FOR GROUPS OF NON-UNIFORM SIZED PARTICLES

A method for calculating the surface area and volume of samples of particles of various sizes and shapes is outlined. This method depends upon a screen analysis of the sample, size and surface interval functions, and screen shape factors. The size and surface interval functions can be calculated;screen shape factors can be calculated for some regular geometrically shaped particles, can be estimated for other geometrically shaped particles, but must be deter¬mined experimentally for irregularly shaped particles.
