Releases of sea-bed and sea-surface drifters in the Solway Firth, during the period 15th January to 17th April 1963, are described.nThe dominant effect of tidal mechanisms upon the transport of sea-bed drifters is again apparent. Sea-surface drifters were dispersed most widely and rapidly under conditions of enhanced run-off and prolonged east to north-east winds.
