These results as a. whole show that as long as the target remains at a temperature which the titanium/tritium system can easily withstand, there is no significant dif-ference in the neutron production from titanium, erbium and yttrium targets.nIf the beam current is increased, the neutron yield of titanium targets drops rapidly after the initial rise, whereas that of yttrium and erbium targets increases normally. The gas-release study on these targets confirms that yttrium/tritium and erbium/tritium systems, especially the latter, are stable at higher temperatures.
