SOLVENT EXTRACTION OF STRONTIUM, CERIUM AND RARE EARTHS WITH D2EHPA PART 1:LABORATORY STUDIES

A solvent extraction process for separating strontium and rare earths from Purex process acid waste has been developed. The extractant is di-(2-ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid (D2EHPA) dissolved in a tributyl phosphate and hydrocarbon diluent. There are two product streams;one contains the strontium and the other contains the rare earths.
