Analytical Method for THE DETERMINATION OF ZIRCONIUM METAL IN IGNITED URANIUM/ZIRCONIUM RESIDUES

The sample is treated with a solution of bromine in ethyl acetate in which zirconium metal is soluble. After filtration the filtrate is evaporated to dryness and the residue redissolved in acid. Zirconium is separated from uranium by precipitation with mandolin acid, and determined volumetrically in a sulphuric acid solution using standard E.D.T.A. and bismuth solutions.
