THE INFLUENCE OF LOCAL ABSENCE OF COOLING ON THE FUEL CLADDING TEMPERATURE

This report presents the results of calculations performed in connection with the NERO project. This project envisages the study by RCN of a reactor for ship propulsion. In the present report we derive some expressions for the temperature rise occurring at the place of support of fuel rods which results in the local absence of cooling. As we have as yet no data available with regard to the local. variation in cooling, we consider only the limiting case by assuming that there is no cooling at all at the place of support of the fuel rods.
