A Scale Model Investigation of the Flow from the Open End of a Shock Tube of Rectangular Cross Section

This report describes a model investigation of the flow field beyond the mouth of a model open-ended rectangular shock tube using Schlieren photography and piezo-electric transducers. The movement of the front of this field is determined and comparison is made between the results obtained on a l/14th scale and those from the full scale, 30 in. x 18 in. shock tube.
