The purpose of this report is to provide an effective catalog of current program descriptions for Control Data Corporation large scale computers. The Permuted Description Index was prepared on the CDC-3600.nThe difficulty with classification schemes,, as they have existed, is they are insufficient for the purpose of retrieving an arbitrary class of programs. Consider the situation where one wishes to inspect all programs written in FORTRAN 63 or where one is interested only in programs written for the CDC=l604 or the case where only the title of the program is known. These are functions one may reasonably expect an information retrieval mechanism to perform. This catalog does perform these functions and more.
