The Division is also continuing its policy of including only abbreviated papers in the annual report, either summaries of work in progress or abstracts of papers published elsewhere. As was pointed out in last year's preface, this policy was instituted to give authors more time to spend on topical reports and journal articles and its success is evidenced by the 50% increase in the number of papers included in the list of publications beginning on page 65 of this volume.
