The tertiary amine, Alamine 336, and the ether diluent, dibutyl cellosolve, C4H9.O.C2H4.O.C4H9, have been selected for further study with an outline flowsheet by which plutonium would be separated from the uranium and fission products contained in an irradiated fast reactor fuel.nSome properties of the organic phases produced after equilibration with aqueous nitric acid, have been determined for the amine and ether separately, and also as a 15% v/v mixture of the amine in the ether. The properties examined have included (i) degradation by heat and irradi¬ation and (ii) third phase formation.
