ARGOSY RESULTS FOR THE LONG-TERM IRRADIATION CHANGES IN THE CALDER HALL REACTOR

The measured values of the heavy isotope contents of irradiated Calder fuel elements are compared with ARGOSY calculated values. Agreement is satisfactory within experimental errors which are of the order of 1 – 1 1/2％. Since most of the neutron captures in 238U occur below the resonance energy region it is not possible to use this comparison to check the validity of the factor 0*9 applied to the resonance integral of the programme ARGOSY 2A and later versions.
