摘要

Extrusion and drawing techniques were developed for seamless tubing of unalloyed tungsten and tungsten - 25 w/o rhenium with diameters below about 0.4-inch. Billets filled with molybdenum were used for both compositions. Four warm drawing techniques were shown to be feasible for both materials. Significant progress in drawing resulted from the establishment of swaging as a practical method of pointing. The fabrication program was guided by metallurgical evaluations. Both wrought and annealed tubing were examined to determine their microstructures and mechanical properties, notably ductility as determined in the ring compression test.
