摘要

An analysis of the instability conditions when operating with Permutit SK anion exchange resin in 7M HNO3 has been made. The reaction kinetics for the system was investigated by externally heated pipe pressurization tests and by calorimeter experiments. The chemical and physical properties of the system were correlated by mathematical models for batch and flow cases to predict the conditions that permit self-accelerating chemical reactions. Uncontrolled reaction conditions are favored by:nIncreasing vessel radiusnLow vessel wall heat transfer coefficients to the surroundingsnLow thermal conductivity of the vessel contentsnHigh ambient and operating temperaturesnChromium (VI) loaded on the resin
