In vitro determination of thyroid function with the serum *T3 test

A description and preliminary results are given of a new and easily conducted in vitro test for thyroid function diagnosis. The method, called the serum *T3 test, consists of determining the protein-bound I131 —λ-3,5,3'-triiodothyronine which is obtained after a 1/4-hour incubation of serum with this hormone followed by separation using gel filtration (Sephadex G-25).
