Assessment of the minimum number of measure¬ments necessary to maintain a statistically defined quality is an important means of keeping down in¬spection costs. This Report describes and assesses some of the most widely used sampling schemes. As an example, a simple sampling scheme is evolved which enables a specification and a set of inspec¬tion results to be fed into a Mercury computer program giving as output the required sampling scheme.
