摘要

The effects of various degrees of regenerative feedwater heating in the turbine cycle of a dual-purpose desalination plant using 650 psia saturated prime steam were investigated. Capital and operating cost variations were estimated and the resulting variations of process heat cost to the evaporator plant were determined. The optimum final feed-water temperature was found to decrease with decreasing prime steam cost and increasing fixed charge rate, but for this prime steam condition the use of at least two stages of feedwater heating appears advantageous.
