APPLICATION OF THE METHOD OF DISCRETE ORDINATES TO PHOTON TRANSPORT CALCULATIONS

A useful method for performing photon transport calculations is the method of discrete ordinates. For one-dimensional problems the formalism of this method is implemented by a computer program called DTF. This program was originally written at Los Alamos for the solution of neutron transport problems. The original version of DTF has been modified to allow practical photon transport problems to be solved conveniently. Modifications include provision for external photon sources and the capability to treat fluorescence radiation.nPresented here is the information necessary to use DTF for the solution of photon transport problems.
