The Life of Tritium Targets under Deuteron Bombardment in an Accelerator

Life tests have been conducted on titanium tritide and erbium tritide targets when bombarded with deuterium ions. The 14 MeV neutron output from these targets falls as the total integrated current on them increases. A secondary source of 2.5 MeV neutrons builds up rapidly, then remains at a steady level.
