Electrical discharge machining (EDM) characteristics of some commonly machined materials， such as uranium, aluminum, steel, and tungsten, have been studied and tabulated at the Y-12 Plant. To a lesser extent, the characteristics of magnesium, titanium carbide, tungsten carbide, and Type 304L stainless steel have also been determined.nData obtained from 15 different electrode materials applied on the workpiece ma¬terials in various combinations have been arranged to give shop personnel the in¬formation necessary to select and design an electrode, estimate the job time, and set up the power supply.
