PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATIONS INTO THE USE OF GLASS BEADS IN FIBREGLASS REINFORCED PLASTICS

The effect of adding glass beads and powdered quartz to resins used for manufacturing fibreglass laminates is reported.nViscosity considerations make it practicable to use higher loadings of glass beads than powdered quartz, and there appears to be preliminary evidence that the shape of the filler can affect the mechanical properties of the resultant composite.
