A COMPARISON OF METHODS FOR THE DETERMINATION OF NITROGEN IN TITANIUM CARBIDE

Vacuum fusion, pyrohydrolysis, Kjeldahl and Dumas methods have been applied to the determination of nitrogen in titanium carbide. The Dumas method gives satisfactory results but for control purposes the Kjeldahl method using sulphuric acid/sodium selenite digestion might also be used. Results obtained by the other techniques investigated were low.
