The work described in this report is a continuation of research investigating the beneficial interaction of gamma radiation with optical maser materials as described in an earlier report NYO-3330-1, "Nuclear Radiation Processing of Optical Maser Materials".nExposure of ruby lasers and a variety of neodymium-doped glass lasers to cobalt-60 gamma-ray doses of twenty megarads followed by optical bleaching and thermal annealing cycles (up to two hours at 400℃ ) has been found to increase the slope efficiency of some of the lasers.
