摘要

A mathematical analysis of the stresses and deflections in thin shallow spherical shells subjected to rotationally symmetrical distributed loads is presented. The shells are considered to be of constant thickness and isotropic construction and to be supported continuously either near the apex or along the outer boundary by a rigid ring. A simplified yet accurate analysis is accomplished by the application of bending shell theory. The equations are specialized to provide solutions for either fixed or simply supported structures. Results are presented in the form of nondimensional curves which provide stresses and deflections in the most general form.
