The LIBMOD code has been written to satisfy the need for a general means of updating the cross section library used by the INCITE code. The required procedures as well as the equations involved in creating and modifying the cross section data are described in detail. The program contains logic to process absorption, fission, and elastic and inelastic scattering cross section data. In addition, logic has been provided for the calculation of total scattering cross sections from differential scattering data, slowing down sources into the thermal energy range assuming a 1/E flux above the upper cutoff energy, and gas model differential scattering data utilizing either the Wigner-Wilkins or Brown and St. John prescriptions. The present version of the code is set up to handle the zeroth and first Legendre moments of the scattering cross sections and sources.nThe LIBMOD code is written in the FORTRAN-IV language and versions have been written for both the IBM-360/75 and the IBM-701+0 digital computers.
