The purpose of the meeting was to assist in expanding the local process¬ing of non-ferrous metals in developing countries so as to increase, as far as possible, the value added within the domestic economy, as well as to examine the technological developments in lead and zinc production and their signifi¬cance to developing countries. The meeting had as its main aim, the review of recent technological developments in lead and zinc production and their possi¬ble application in developing countries. It is hoped that as a long-term result of these considerations, production of these metals will be initiated or expanded in developing countries.
