The velocity of sound in carbon dioxide at low temperatures

The investigation of the generation of noise and its effects on com¬ponents in reactor circuits requires a knowledge of the velocity of sound in carbon dioxide at relatively low temperatures where there are significant deviations from the ideal gas law and for which no tubulated data are available. An equation of state for temperatures in the range 0°C to 100°C is found which fits the experimental data, and from this the velocity of sound is deduced.
