Instrument Manual for PROTOTYPE WET CONCRETE ANALYZER

The prototype instrument herein described, has been specially designed for the rapid, on-site determination of cement in wet concrete. The technique employed is that of gamma-ray backscatter, using two radioisotope sources, one emitting low energy radiation (241Am) and one of high energy (137Cs). A single detector comprising a NaI(T&) scintillation counter, is used to measure both radiations simultaneously. The sources and detector are contained within the same cylindrical probe which measures 16.75 inches long by 1.33 inches in diameter.
