Dust and Soot Nuisance in a Metallurgical Coking Plant and Its Surroundings

Measurements of dust precipitate carried out in a metallurgical coking plant and its surroundings by gravimetric and soot nuisance and pure soot content methods resulted in mainly high values being obtained. Although the coking plant meets the legal requirements for cleaning exhaust gases, there appears to be a need to take measures beyond present requirements to reduce emissions, particularly during the charging of the coke ovens. 7 references, 6 figures, 2 tables.
