摘要

Design, performance and safety analyses of FTR core components are presently based on conservative property estimates because knowledge concerning the thermal stability of cold-work in Type 316 stainless steel is meagre. The purpose of this work is to add some information as to the retention of cold-work properties in 316 SS after exposure to the FTR core environment. Based on this study, it appears that, at all operating temperatures below 1200°F, using 75% of the tensile strength properties characteristic of 20% CW 316 SS as a design assumption appears warranted.
