Improved Light Scattering Photometer for Air Filtration System Studies

A light scattering photometer has been designed which offers a high degree of sensitivity and stability with negligible electrical noise. Sensitivity and linearity have been provided which allow detection of 0.3 pm particles in concentrations as low as 2.5 x 10-7 μg/cc (15 particles/cc). A solenoid valve has been designed and incorporated into an automatic pushbutton control sampling system. This valve has eliminated impaction problems and is leak proof at pressures in excess of those usually encountered in the normal operation of the photometer.
