摘要

This dissertation presents the results of a study of the rare-earth-sulfur systems. The work consists of studies of phases, crystal structures, vaporization behavior, thermodynamics, and electron impact phenomena.nThe congruent vaporization of gadolinium monosulfide, Gds has been studied over the temperature ranges 2201-2371°K and 1834-2305°K by using the target collection Knudsen effusion method and a mass spectrometer respectively. The effusate collected on the target was assayed by X-lay fluorescence analysis for Gd metal. The mass spectrometer was calibrated with silver.
