摘要

An analysis of Utah's health needs is presented. The data on which the analysis is based were collected from a sample of 2,375 Utah residents; 2,109 respondents comprised a cross section of adults from the eight State planning districts, and 266 represented a special minority sample. Health problems in the State were found to include drug addiction, venereal disease, unplanned children, and pollution. Among the problems involved in securing health care and treatment were waiting for appointments, waiting in doctors' offices, the expense of health care, and of having to travel too far for health services. Other topics covered in the report include: medical practitioners and hospitals (e.g., type of medical practitioner seen, frequency of visits, transportation and medical care, and reasons for hospital selection); knowledge of health, illness, and health-care services; dental health; attitudes toward innovative medical programs; and attitudes towards costs of medical care. Data are provided on kinds of health insurance available and on consumer involvement in health planning. A bibliography is included.
