THE 7600 COMMITTEE REPORT ON NEW DAYTIME OPERATING RULES FOR THE THREE-7600 SITUATION

The talk transcribed in this report was given on March 15, 1972 as part of Computer Information Exchange Meeting No. 119. Its purpose was to describe the activities of the 7600 Committee with respect to its task of recommending operating rules for a three-CDC 7600 environment. Among the Committee's recommendations are that the T Machine be operated around the clock in its night-time production mode with changed bidding limits. This should improve service to the medium-to-large size jobs. The R machine will continue with its present system. The S machine will be the one on which experiments aimed at improving interactivity will be run. Areas of ex¬perimentation will include noting the effects of changes in the bidding process, varying job-size limits, and varying the Do-Not-Disturb constant.
