BLOWDOWN HEAT TRANSFER PROGRAM TASK C-1 INFORMAL REPORT PRELIMINARY SYSTEM DESIGN DESCRIPTION OF TWO-LOOP TEST APPARATUS

A two-loop test apparatus proposed for use in the Blowdown Heat Transfer Program is described. The apparatus is to be used for investigation of reactor blowdown heat transfer phenomena during the hypothetical recirculation line break Design Basis Accident. For physical scaling purposes, a typical Boiling Wate Reactbr is modeled. Program hackftround is outlined and program objectives are defined. Design basis is presented together with a detailed description of test apparatus operating performance. Measurement systems and data handling equipment are described in detail. Finally, performance predictions;for the test apparatus are compared with Boiling Water Reactor expected performance and with the Design Basis Accident analysis performance.
