COMPARISON OF TROPICAL SYNOPTIC-SCALE WIND SPECTRA AND SEASONAL PARAMETERS

The purpose of this study is to calculate regional synoptic wind component spectra and relate these results to properties of the long period flow. If this parameterization can be accomplished, then spectra may be indirectly estimated in remote regions where data are collected infrequently, or may be prognosticated where larger scale changes are predictable. Ultimately, diffusion coefficients could be estimated in terms of such non-stationary flow parameters.
