摘要

A program to evaluate the substructure of austenitic stainless steels (Types 304 and 316) deformed at elevated temperatures in the creep, tensile, and fatigue modes is being conducted. Transmission electron microscopy is the primary tool employed in this research. Complimentary work using optical microscopy and immersion density tech¬niques is presently underway to characterize the micro-crack behavior and bulk density changes observed subsequent to deformation in these materials.nInitial substructure results are discussed for 316 stainless steel creep-rupture specimens from a second heat of material. The results are consistent with the previ¬ously reported substructure results for 316 material in this program. Below ~ G.5 T, dislocation cells are the predominant feature while subgrains are evident at higher deformation temperatures.
