OUTLINING AND SHADING GENERATION FOR A COLOR TELEVISION DISPLAY

This report describes improvements made on the Automatic Tricolor Cartograph – mark I. The Cartograph is a self-contained system for performing the automatic coloring of perator-designated bounded areas on a color display. It has its own storage and refresh. In the original version, the storage of colored areas was such that striations were somewhat noticeable on the display. In addition, the only means of imputing outline information (to define the bounded regions) was by means of the light pen. Only saturated colors were possible.
