A random-access, three-dimensional laser display called Stereomatris has been built by a group in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Illinois. Three-dimensional wire figures are displayed by generating separate images for the left and right eyes. The light from the laster is split into two beams, and then the polarization of the left beam is rotated 90 degrees. Both beams are deflected along the x and y axis, resulting in a double image.
