Effect of Rat Tumor Allografts on the Blood Level of Passively Transferred Alloantibodies

This paper reports the results of experiments in which high titer antibodies to Fischer-344 transplantation antigens are produced in Buffalo strain rats and passively transferred to recipient animals. The relative level of circulating antibody is measured in two types of recipient animals; (a) immunosuppressed Buffalo rats bearing transplanted tumors carrying Fischer transplantation antigens, and (b) Buffalo rats similarly treated with immunosuppressive agents, but without tumors. It is shown that these transplantation antibodies disappear more rapidly from the circulation of the tumor bearing animals.
