A method for calculating the deposition of tritium following a nuclear burst con¬siders the interaction of tritiated water vapor with precipitation. It calculates the long-range wet deposition of tritium from the calculated debris-cloud concen¬tration and the measured total rainfall, temperature, and dew point. The method is tested by using data from a Russian nuclear excavation experiment. The calculated values are from 0.2 to 2.5 times the measured values. The differences may reflect the limited meteorological and deposition measurements, the highly vari-able topography, and uncertainties in wind velocity and direction.
