摘要

The feasibility of mapping the distribution of stable tracers by counting characteristic x-rays from stable iodine has been demonstrated and the parameters of one V. U. system have been documented. The output 241 of the 17 Ci Am annular sources provides sufficient intensity for patient studies. A redesign of the source to provide more shielding between the detector and the source could provide a fourfold increase in sensitivity. The images obtained with the present system are of borderline quality and increased sensitivity would be an important factor for clinical applications.
