摘要

Seven-S bovine gamma globulin (BGG) and fraction-II rat gamma globulin (RtGG) were compared for efficiency of tolerance induction at doses of 5.0 and 2.5 mg in adult male mice. Most of the animals treated with both doses of disaggregated BGG manifested severe immunological suppression after injection of the native protein incorporated in complete Freund's adjuvant. A significant suppression of the immune response was obtained in animals treated with 5.0 mg of RtGG, but not with 2.5 mg. A comparison of the degree of immunosuppression induced by both doses of both tolerogens indicated that the lower dosage (2.5 mg) of BGG induced immunosuppression more efficiently than the same dose of RtGG. Thus, greater suppression of antibodyforming ability was achieved in mice treated with the more phylogenetically distant gamma globulin (BGG) than in those treated with the phylogenetically closer gamma globulin (RtGG).
