RADIOLYSIS OF TRIS(ETHYLENEDIAMINE) COBALT(Ⅲ) SALTS

摘要

The effects of radiation on the optically active, coordi¬nation compounds [Co(en)3 ]X3 (where X  C1-, Br-, I- and NO3 r) have been studied, in the solid state. Thernal raceaization, X-rey and gacma-ray induced effects as Bell as the crystal structure of the nitrate aalt have been studied.nThe rate of loss of optical activity Has in the order I-> Br- > CI- > HO3 - for the various forus of radiation. The activation energy, for thermal racemization, of the nitrate salt was about four tines larger than for the various halido salts. This was attributed to the greater nuiaber of possible hydrogen bonds between the oxygen's of the nitrate group and the aaine hydrogens.
