A COMPARISON OF TWO FAST REACTOR CROSS SECTION PROCESSING CODES

Beginning with the latest basic nuclear data available from the Evaluated Nuclear Data File (ENDF/B), this report presents a group by group comparison between two contemporary multigroup processing schemes;ET0X/1DX and UC2. Cross sections from each scheme, for a simple reactor composition, are graphically compared, displaying at once the general good agreement obtained. A relatively large Doppler effect difference is studied in detail. The results are also graphically shown providing a useful aid for understanding this sensitive nuclear parameter. According to the differences and their origins, improvements are identified that will bring the two approaches into even closer agreement.
