(2) A facility has boon constructed for torsion testing at elevated temperatures which will provide a viewing window, atmosphere control, three point temperature control, and recording of torque-twist curves. The apparatus is being tested and will first be used to evaluate types 304 and 31G Stainless Steels.n(3) The nature of the "strength transition" in notch ductility has been clarified by work done under a previous sponsor. It shows that the transition follows the decrease in c- with strength levels over 200 ksi. This work has been published.
