Final Report and Summary for the Three Year Period 1969-1972 210PoO2 Metabolism in Ruminants

A significant fraction of 210PoO2 ingested by ruminants will be absorbed from the G.I. tract and secreted into milk. The average milk transfer coefficient observed for cows was 0. 012% (percent intake secreted per liter per day). This is nearly 25% of the value observed for fallout 137Cs. The average transfer coefficient observed in the goat was 0. 45. The ratio of transfer coefficients for the cow to that for the goat is very nearly the same as observed for 137Cs.
