The kinetic energy spectra for (n, γ) -activated 128 I have been calculated for the 2, 3, and 4 random-step processes. The results show that the recoil energy spectrum for128 I is sufficiently low so that an Appreciable fraction is born, near or in the reactive zone E2-E1 .kinetic-energy isotope effect in the hot reactions activated by radiative neutron capture is discussed. Two prime factors in determining the extent of reaction for (n/γ)-activated species are the kinetic-energy spectra of-the hot atoms or ions and the system energy-degradation factor.
